Denton Hall Wedding | Charlotte & Alex
Denton Hall Wedding. FINALLY back at the amazing Denton Hall after about two years! Great staff, beautiful building, amazing views and 10 mins from my front door – bliss! 😀
I hadn’t actually met Charlotte & Alex before their wedding as they booked everything through email, but Charlotte and her bridesmaids and family welcomed me in like a friend when I arrived and I spent a wonderful couple of hours with them capturing all of the bridal preparations. I absolutely adored Charlotte’s Karen Willis Holmes dress – the beading was incredible and the extra skirt on top gave it eve more of a wow factor. She looked amazing!
I managed to nip across to the main hall to see Alex and the guys popping on buttonholes and grabbing a quick drink to steady the nerves. I may have stepped in and helped with the buttonholes after I’d captured them struggling for a while. Pro tip – they don’t actually go in the buttonhole! 😀
Then it was time for Charlotte to get dressed so I wandered back to the bridal suite. She was in the first layer in seconds but the extra skirt had us all stumped for a while 😀
Once she was in I headed up the lane to St Helen’s Church to grab a few shots before the ceremony and to say hi to the vicar. Who was ok with me hiding at the front of the church for the ceremony, hoorah! I waited outside for C & co to wander up and then nipped in to wait for them to walk down the aisle. They’d timed it perfectly to the music so I could see all of the bridesmaids walk down before Charlotte, and the adorable flower girls Freya & Robyn who (nearly!) stole the show! Alex was completely blown away when Charlotte made her entrance, and rightly so!
After the ceremony everyone grabbed a handful of confetti on their way out of the church and headed out to the road where they formed a perfect confetti tunnel with absolutely no input from me – I was well impressed! Charlotte & Alex wandered through and were absolutely bombed with dried petals and then we all walked down to Denton Hall for the drinks reception.
After a bit of a break we powered through some group photos and then I took Charlotte and Alex for a short walk and some photos alone. Alex’s favourite part of the day I’m sure! 😀 As it so often does the time raced by so I dashed in to get some shots of the wedding breakfast set up and then we organised a shot of everyone on the stairs outside. I say “we”, it was mostly Brooke from Denton and MC Mark who did the organising whilst I stood on a chair and directed haha! We followed this with a bouquet toss (which I don’t see enough of!) and then it was time to head inside for the wedding breakfast.
I knew Alex in particular was looking forward to getting the speeches out of the way so they were before food! And as usual he needn’t have worried because his speech was fab – he made everyone laugh and a lot of people cry which basically means he nailed it!
We had quite a long break then so I left everyone to eat and waited for the cake cutting. Which we combined with another confetti bombing, this time on the amazing spiral staircase inside Denton – much sympathy to Brooke and the team who had to hoover it up 😀
And just like that it was time for the first dance and the evening reception. I made sure I got plenty of mortifying pics of people busting a move and then I was on my merry way!
Thank you, Charlotte and Alex, for asking me to photograph your wedding, and to Brooke and the team at Denton for being amazing as always! If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at Denton hall please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you! X
